Florida Muslim Community Respond to #StonemanDouglas High School Shooting, Launch Multiple Initiatives to Assist Victims

(Miami, Fla., 2/16/18) The Florida Muslim Community on an effort coordinated by the South Florida Muslim Federation, announced today the launching of three initiatives to assist the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victims, in Parkland; the deadliest school shooting in the history of Florida. The Florida Muslim community is starting a fundraiser with a Launchgood Campaign. The fundraiser campaign comes together with the announcement of free counseling and mental health services; and a community blood drive. All counseling will be provided free of charge by mental health professionals, additionally spiritual counseling is being made available with Chaplains. The third initiative will be a community blood drive.

The concerted Florida Muslim community efforts come after the February 14th school mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that resulted in 17 people dead, dozens wounded, and hundreds of other kids and adults terrorized. The South Florida Muslim Federation coordinated this relief efforts with the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida, Friends of Humanity Int., COSMOS, EMGAGE, ICNA, Islamic Relief USA, IFSF Food Pantry, UHI Clinic, Muslim Women’s Organization, and various other Mosques and Islamic Centers of Florida. All organizations are working collaboratively and centralized communications will be maintained through the website: www.soflomuslims.com/parkland.
