We would love extend an invitation to members of our community to register their children in our DEBATE/SPEECH boot camp at ICBR, from June 5th – June 9th. This is an academic boot camp for children grades 6 through 12.
If you are interested in having your child compete in tournaments or learn skill sets that will allow them to master public speaking and debate, then you must register your child for this camp.
We are extremely lucky to have this camp be led by professionals with very high credentials. They have been apart of the speech and debate world for several years.
There will be three main coaches that will help students master Interpretation (dramatic, humorous, duo), Public Forum Debate, and Congressional Debate. They will also be addressing several general topics around public speaking and how to give a good speech.
Read below the bios of two of our coaches:
Alexandria Murru
Alexandria Murru is a teacher originally from Fort Lauderdale Florida where she co-created the speech team at her high school. She went on to receive a speech scholarship to join the top nationally ranked team at George Mason University where she competed for 4 years. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Communication and has spent the past year teaching English in Barcelona, Spain where she also developed a Public Speaking curriculum for non native English speakers.
Terri Murru
In 2011, Terri Murru attended the Harvard Summer Camp to train as a Coach for Debate. She has over 5 yrs of Judging experience. In 2012-2015 worked with a few Title I high schools in Broward county to start up Debate Teams.
These two will be joined by Chloe Murru and other local talent that will come to teach specific areas of expertise.
