ROLE SUMMARY

The role of the Imam at ICBR encompasses a significant leadership position that fosters a distinctive environment for teaching, guiding, and influencing both the spiritual and physical growth of our Center and the broader community. Imams serve as the esteemed representatives of our community, upholding the integrity and well-being of our community. The appointed Imam must adhere to the tenets of AhluSunnah Waljama’ah, ensuring that the center’s rules, policies, and religious practices align faithfully with the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Our Muslim youth are facing unique challenges when it comes to preserving their Muslim identity, particularly in light of the distinct circumstances they encounter in this country. Fostering and nurturing their Muslim identity holds paramount significance, and the Imam assumes a pivotal role in guiding this process. It is through their dedicated efforts that the new generation is prepared to lead in the future. The Imam/Masjid must stand as the primary source of religious guidance and education, providing a haven where our youth can cultivate a robust Muslim identity. The ideal Imam should possess the ability to effectively engage with and relate to Muslim youth, speaking their language and comprehending the distinct challenges they confront. An Imam who is passionate for Dawaa, actively engages with the community, and embodies a collaborative and approachable demeanor is sought after.

With these qualities, the Imam at ICBR will not only be a spiritual leader but also a mentor and guide for our community, especially our youth. They will play a vital role in preserving and strengthening the Muslim identity of the next generation, preparing them to confidently carry the torch of leadership into the future

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of Islamic Studies from a traditional Islamic Institution.
  • Ability to recite the Quran correctly. Having memorized the entire Qur’an is most desirable, though not a must.
  • 5 years of experience working as an Imam or coordinator/staff for Islamic Center/Organization
  • Commitmentto serving the South Florida community in this role for at least three years to ensure a solidfoundation and consistency.
  • Ability to represent the Muslim community and communicate with local community partners, media outlets, and surrounding centers.
  • Experience teaching Islam to Adults, Youth, and non-Muslims
  • Excellent communication skills, strong command of English and Arabic.
  • Track record of strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, relationship building, adaptability, innovation, creativity, motivation, program development for adults and youth.
  • Training and experience in family counseling and conflict resolution helpful.
  • Must be US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Prayer Services

  • Lead designated prayers alongside Part Time Imams
  • Eid Prayers
  • Friday Prayers

Facilitate Religious Services

  • Matrimonial and Divorce Services
  • Janaza, Burial Services
  • Fatwa, Religious Guidance

Provide Counseling Services

  • Family, Marital Counseling
  • Youth Counseling

Maintain Office Hours

  • Be available to the community during appointed hours by phone and email
  • Maintain weekly office hours

Outreach and Community Engagement

  • Represent ICBR in the greater South Florida Community, attending community events at other mosques, Islamic Centers, and other community engagements.
  • Participation on Family Night events

Public Relations

  • Maintain strategic relationships with local and state organizations, such as the Clergy Association, Police Department, Mayor, etc.

Community Education

  • Provide weekly Adult classes
  • Develop youth classes and programsFundraising
  • Participate in Fundraising events for ICBR

  • Participate in Fundraising events for ICBR
